A Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Cyber Forensic course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of cybercrime investigation and digital forensic techniques. The curriculum typically begins with foundational courses in computer science, cybersecurity, and criminal justice. Students learn about the basics of computing systems, networking, and the legal framework surrounding cybercrime.
The Department of Cyber Forensics started in Cochin Arts and Science College and was established in 2022 under the B.Sc. Degree Programme affiliated to MG University. BSc in Cyber Forensic course equips students with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and ethical understanding needed to pursue careers in law enforcement, cybersecurity, digital forensics, or related fields. It’s a dynamic and evolving field that plays a crucial role in combating cyber threats and ensuring justice in the digital age.
PO1 – Graduates will demonstrate a solid understanding of the principles, concepts, and techniques of cybersecurity, including threat analysis, risk management, cryptography, and network security.
PO2 – Students will acquire the skills and knowledge required to investigate cybercrimes, including digital evidence collection, preservation, analysis, and presentation in legal proceedings.
PO3 – Graduates will be proficient in using various forensic tools and software for data recovery, malware analysis, forensic imaging, and memory forensics.
PO4 – Students will be aware of the legal and ethical issues surrounding cybercrimes, privacy, intellectual property rights, and compliance with regulations and standards.
Candidates shall be required to have passed the Plus Two/equivalent examination with an aggregate of 55% for any of the three of the subjects viz. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, and Computer Science, and 50% marks for Mathematics alone.
The curriculum requirement of the B.Sc Cyber Forensics Programme shall consist of three academic years as prescribed in the curriculum. The three academic years shall be split into 6 semesters (6 months each). Examinations will be conducted at the end of each semester in subjects prescribed in the respective scheme of examinations.
